A few Projects...

I am always a creeper on every one's blog.... I love Creepin your blogs everyday!  I wish I was as consistent as all of you bloggers about blogging in blogger world!  I have done plenty of projects!  I just don't make the time to share them very often.  :(

Anyhow, I am trying to repurpose some Goodwill and Thrift store finds.  Trash to Treasure type things.  When I have a few complete I want to sell them. I'm thinking of starting an Etsy store.  Here are a few pics of before and afters of a few items.

Bistro Set Make-Over

I purchased this vintage looking Bistro set from JCPenny about 3 years ago. I thought it was fabulous and super cute! I was getting extremely tired of the butter yellow color and wanted to give it a pop of color... I really wanted to do it in a bright Pink, but I could not find the exact shade I was dreaming of. So.... I settled for this Grape Purple. My 10-year-old-son and I went to town. Four cans of spray paint later we were finished. I am pretty satisfied, and in a few years when it needs painting I am sure they will have some new shades of pink. For now it gives it the pop of color it needed!

Blooming Tuesday!

Just posting a couple of pics of Coconut Lime and Razmatazz Cone flowers. They are not as fast spreading as typical cone flowers, but seem to be doing well. Thanks for looking!

Sunday... Sunday...

Sunday. This means tomorrow is Monday and I will be going to work. Fortunately I feel much was accomplished.

My husband is building a shed in the back yard. He has the philosophy of "go big or go home" when it comes to building things. The shed is being placed where a a garden once was. Sounds kind of sad, but actually is quite exciting! It will be very cute, and I will make new gardens to surround the shed.

Last weekend I finished moving plants from the area and my husband started the base of the shed. This weekend he built the floor. When the floor was finished it soon became a dance floor and then my stage. I was a rock star! I was Katy Perry singing California Gurls (my fav summer song right now)into my purple microphone. Actually my new purple watering wand... My imagination took over for a New York minute! Back to reality.

This morning I could not sleep. I was so bummed! I love to sleep in on the weekends. Oh, well. I was outside in the yard before 8 am. I found homes for the plants I purchased last weekend and into the ground they went. It was a perfect morning to do so. Overcast, and an hour later it started raining. The rain continued to be the trend for the afternoon.

We also fit in a couple of movies this weekend. Last night we watched The Road. Very dark and depressing, but all in all a good movie. Not an uplifting movie. During the rain this afternoon my daughter and I watched Sunshine Cleaning. Loved it.

It is a very HUMID day here in Northern Michigan. Yuck! Not sure when it is supposed to let up. Hope everyone had a good weekend!

Blooming Tuesday for the first time!

This is my first blooming Tuesday post. These pics are of my front garden next to the front porch. My husband built this walkway, porch and pergola last summer. All of these perennials were also planted here last summer. Some of them were new plants and a few were transplanted from other gardens in my yard. They are all doing very well and seem to like their home! This garden is full sun from 1pm until sunset

My first post and Final day of Cherry Festival....

My very first post! Exciting! I feel kinda embarrassed. Not sure why???

This morning my son and I woke very early and left our home around 6:40 am. I know that may not seem early to some, but for us on a Saturday.... Too early! We drove into town for our 2ND annual Cherry Festival 5K. The office I work for does this as a group. We have a shirt specially made up for our office employee's. We all match and do a little advertising at the same time. Some run, some walk & we even had a girl run the 15K! Good for her! I am not in running shape, let alone even walking shape. My son and I were the last of our group to finish. Not upset though. I am really not a competitive person when it comes to races. For me it was a leisurely morning stroll. The route takes you through the downtown homes on Washington Street. Gorgeous! We saw some spectacular gardens!

At the finish line my son and I had the breakfast of champions. It consisted of a cookie and a Mountain Dew. They were free at the end. My son new it was a special occasion and a once a year opportunity to have a Mountain Dew at 9 o'clock in the morning! He never asked for the Mountain Dew, but when I looked at him and asked," would you like a Mountain Dew?" His response was immediately "Can I?" As if it were a trick question, or I had already changed my mind. A random moment of happiness in a 10-year-old boys life. I think I made his day.

When we arrived home my husband and I went out to run a few errands. Lowes and Menards. Lowes had some perennials marked down to five dollars. They need a little love, but I know I can nurse them back to good health. I bought one called Little Lantern Ligularia. It says it is a shade plant. I will try it and see. At Menards they had some shrubs for $5.88 and they were buy one get one free! I bought a Wine & Roses Wigalia and one called Snow Fairy Caryopteris. I have not seen a Snow Fairy Caryopteris. I will be googling images to see what the mature shrub looks like. I could not pass it up for the price. My husband gave me a look and I told him that I had found some new friends!

On our way home we encountered an amazing sight! A large boat/yacht had fallen off of its trailer! It was stranded in the middle of a busy intersection. It looked as if it had been out floating along and the water disappeared. It just washed up there like a piece of driftwood or some kind of magic trick took place. Nobody was hurt, except for the owners pride!

We will head down to the festival fireworks tonight. It is a much better show than the fourths fireworks. I believe the Cherry Festival budget is much larger. All of the locals and fudgies will converge together as one on the beach for a finale of noise, color and summer memories.

Well this is probably a bit lenghty, but like I said this is my first post. Lots of room for improvment...
